Pomes in a Pail: Music

4. ON-THE-LOOSE DREAM

(Jenny/Snow. Singer: Gaia Galvan)

A dreamy dance tune...and a cautionary tale!
Have you seen a lost dream come rolling by here?
I was sleeping last night when mine fell out my ear
Then it spun down a hill and it gathered up steam
So please keep an eye out for my on-the-loose dream

A dream is a wish that your heart tells your head
But heads can get filled up with can’t words instead
When some can’t do’s and too hard’s got into my noggin
That dream, it whooshed off like one gone goose toboggan

Now as I pout and stare at the wall
My dream’s out carousing and having a ball
Panning for gold dust in old Arizony
And riding the range on a wild spotted pony

See, a dream is as real as most things you can touch
But you have to hold on or you’ll lose them, ’cause such
Is the nature of dreams that they may slip away
’Less you feed ’em and water their roots every day

So here I sit, with my dream empty bean
While my dream is out living the life of a dream
(I just got a postcard from Big Sky, Montana —
Watch out for a dream in a bright red bandana)

Lost dreams leave a hole in your belly
Like a night without stars, or toast and no jelly
You can cover it over, but you can’t fill it in
So please send my dream home, so I can dream it again.
